Gabriel Smith (1724-1783) was a line and stipple engraver of portraits and romantic subjects after his contemporaries. He was one of the engravers who went to Paris and learnt how to perfect stipple engraving and soft ground etching before returning to London and producing a series of highly decorative prints.
