Helme Grouse Shooting

T. Helme.

Grouse Shooting.

25.5 x 22.5 inches

In this rural sporting scene, we are somewhere up in the Highlands of Scotland in August as the grouse shooting season gets underway. Two well-dressed gentlemen load their guns at the edge of the grouse moor while a servant in livery and tam o'shanter appears over the brow of the hill with a picnic and back up cartridges. In the distance, up in the mountains, a shepherd watches over his flock. The gun dogs pace around in the foreground, attempting to pick up a scent, and only the keenest observer will spot the covey of grouse concealed within the heather!
