Fleur-de-Lis was foaled in 1822 (got by Bourbon out of Lady Rachel) and won her first race, the Filly Stakes at Newcastle, in 1825. After a distinguished career at Newcastle, York, Pontefract, Doncaster and Lincoln in the mid-1820s she was sold to King George IV.
