Les Satyres de Guillaume Hogarth,
Oeuvre moral et Comique...

London: Robert Sayer, 1768

Soon after the death of William Hogarth in 1764, his widow Jane gave the London publisher Robert Sayer permission to publish a collection of her husband's work.

Hogarth had spent his life fighting for artist's copyright, attempting to stop the publication of pirate versions of his engravings. Thus Sayer's edition is one of the earliest authorised collections of his work.

Although engraved in a smaller format than the original plates, these plate retain all the detail that made Hogarth's pictures so fascinating.
