George Brookshaw

[Set of six apples.]

11 x 14".

Fine colour-printed stipples, published in London in 1817.

Brookshaw's ''Pomona Britannica or a Collection of the Most Esteemed Fruits at present cultivated in Great Britain'' was the most sumptious book of fruits prints, intended to rival Thornton's ''Temple of Flora''. It included more exotic fruits grown in the hothouses of the Royal Gardens at Hampton Court.
